Brook Park City Council has unanimously approved a conditional use permit for Rock-N-Roll City Harley-Davidson to hold a one-day tattoo event next month.
The event is planned for June 13 at the dealership located at 4985 W. 150th St.
Because the site is in the city’s U-7 zoning district, special authorization was required for this type of event. The council passed the resolution as an emergency measure during the May 20 meeting, allowing it to take effect immediately given the event’s upcoming date.
This proposal was initially presented at a May 5 public hearing before the Brook Park Planning Commission, which recommended approval.
Councilman Brian Poindexter, chair of the planning commission, said the decision was straightforward due to the event’s nature and charitable goals.
“I voted in favor for a couple of reasons,” Poindexter told the News Sun. “It’s a one-day event, and the permit only applies to that day. Also, the event will raise money for charity.”
He noted there was no public opposition. “No residents spoke against it during either the planning commission or council meetings, and I haven’t received any calls or emails opposing it.”
City officials confirmed the event was appropriate for the location and that all necessary procedures were followed.
The tattoo event will be held on dealership grounds and will feature professional tattoo artists and vendors. Additional details about the schedule and activities have yet to be announced.
