Mother-of-three, Christine Philippa, from New Zealand, recently shared her tattoo transformation journey online, revealing how a floral design she got five years ago left her with a rather awkward and unintended “ball sack” appearance on her arm.
Christine, who originally loved the design that also featured a naked woman facing away, didn’t realize that when wearing short-sleeve tops or dresses, the outline of the female figure resembled something phallic. Feeling uncomfortable with the placement and design, Christine decided it was time to fix the tattoo.
Taking to TikTok, Christine shared: “I’ve had a ball sack on my arm for five years now and now it’s time to fix it.” The mum explained that she had worked with a friend to design the tattoo but didn’t foresee what the naked woman’s “butt would look like when it’s covered,” resulting in the unintended visual mishap.
Determined to fix the issue, Christine made an appointment with a skilled tattoo artist who added more floral elements to the piece, as well as the dates of her children’s birthdays, completing the design. Christine, clearly happy with the updated look, proudly showed off the new tattoo in a now-viral TikTok video.
“Isn’t that absolutely stunning? I am obsessed with it,” she said, showcasing the beautiful artwork featuring intricate florals surrounding the woman’s figure. She also mentioned that the new design ties in nicely with another floral piece on her shoulder.
The video quickly gained attention, amassing close to 700,000 views, 36,000 likes, 352 shares, and over 50 comments. While Christine expressed satisfaction with the transformation, some social media users couldn’t resist pointing out that the phallic resemblance still seemed to peek through.
One TikTok user humorously commented, “But it’s still there lol still gonna look the same when the rest is covered. Now the sack’s just surrounded by flowers lol.” Another chimed in with, “I mean, I can still see it?” Some users also suggested adding more ink to completely cover the original design.
In response, Christine assured her followers that she didn’t plan on altering the part of the tattoo that had caused the issue. “Honestly no – it means something to me, and even though I did a bad job, I don’t hate it at all,” she said.
While some viewers may still spot the unintended design, Christine is happy with her tattoo, proving that even with its flaws, the meaning behind it holds value for her.
